KNOWLES HONOR ROLL

The KKNFA Knowles Honor
Roll Web Pages recognize the brave men and women who honored their family, the
surname Knowles (and all variant spellings of the surname), and their country or
cause by their service in the military. Honor Roll Pages are being
developed for the American Revolutionary War,
the War of 1812 and the American War Between the
States (better known as the American Civil War), and perhaps other major and
minor conflicts of interest.
If your Knowles ancestor served in one these conflicts, and is not listed here or is incorrectly listed, please notify Robert B. Noles as soon as possible with the appropriate data and/or corrections.
The
address by General of the Army Douglas MacArthur given to the cadets of the U.S.
Military Academy in accepting the Sylvanus Thayer Award on May 12, 1962, is emblematic
of the ideal that inspires every great American soldier. The words of
General MacArthur's "Duty, Honor, Country" speech on that
day serves
to honor other Americans who have or will serve their country as courageously
and honorably as he did in a way not many of us can verbalize. A
revisit of General MacArthur's words is something we can do periodically when we
wish to honor our Knowles ancestors and indeed all of our American countrymen
who continue to serve and fight so that we may live free and protected lives.
