Cott Corporation (Nasdaq:COTT)(TSE:BCB.), the world's leading supplier of retailer brand soft drinks, today announced that True Knowles, a member of Cott's board of directors and a former Dr. Pepper president, was inducted into Beverage World's Soft Drink Hall of Fame.
"We are honored to have True as a member of our board of directors," said Frank E. Weise, president and chief executive officer. "On behalf of Cott, I extend our congratulations on this well deserved induction."
Knowles was one of four people recognized. Beverage World's Hall of Fame honors beverage executives who have shown devotion, creativity and love for the soft drink industry above and beyond others. The event took place during the first day of InterBev 2000 in New Orleans, Louisiana.
InterBev is an "all beverage" exhibition & conference where the beverage industry meets to exchange ideas and showcase what is new and innovative.
Cott is the world's largest retailer brand soft drink supplier, with major manufacturing facilities in its three core markets of Canada, the UK and the US.

Cott Corporation announced that True Knowles has decided to resign from the company's board of directors, effective immediately. Knowles served on Cott's audit committee for a number of years, and acted as chairman of Cott's executive management committee in 1997-98 when the company's CEO became ill and then died. Knowles' background in the beverage industry started with Dr. Pepper in 1982, where he held numerous management positions leading to his promotion in October of 1990 to president and chief operating officer. He was inducted in 2000 as a member of the beverage industry's "Hall of Fame."

True Knowles has been named chairman and chief executive officer of The NutraSweet Company, according to an announcement by J.W. Childs Associates, the Boston-based private equity firm that is the company's principal investor. Knowles, a member of the NutraSweet Board of Directors since it was acquired by Childs, will serve in an interim capacity as CEO and will lead a search for a permanent CEO.
