LETTERS  and  DOCUMENTS

for  KNOWLES  ANCESTORS

By:  Robert B. Noles

In this segment of the Knowles / Knoles / Noles Family Association Web site, it is my desire to post reproductions of letters and documents from, to or concerning Knowles ancestors.  The initial posting consisting of three letters to and from descendants of Edmund "Old Silverhead" Knowles are examples of our ancestors interests in genealogy, even thought these letters were written more than 100 years ago.

In an age (the 21st century) when many family historians expect to turn on their computer and download their family history and genealogy in an afternoon, the contrast with what our ancestors were dealing with to establish family history in the late 19th century and early 20th century is quite striking.  Although not all of the information (facts) in these old letters is accurate as we know it today (and should not be used as such), their knowledge and interest in the subject is very interesting reading.
