RELATIONSHIP CHART by Robert B. Noles If you find determining how two people are related to be difficult, you may want to refer to a chart like the one below. To use this chart, select the relationship to the common ancestor for the first person across the top row (e.g. 4th Great Grandson). Then select the relationship of the second person to the common ancestor down the first column (e.g. 2nd Great Grandson). Then read down the column for first person and across the row for the second person. Where the column and row cross is their relationship (3rd Cousin, 2 times Removed for this example).
S = Son or Daughter B or S = Brother or Sister (siblings) N = Niece or Nephew G = Great or Grand C = Cousin R = Removed (number of generations)
